A camping game for campers: what you will recognise in Camping Resort Simulator

Published: · Cottondream Studios

In short: Camping Resort Simulator is a building game for PC in which you plan and run a campsite. Campers will recognise a lot of it from real life: a tent only needs a patch of grass, a caravan needs power and level ground, a motorhome needs a fully serviced pitch, and nobody wants a long walk to the toilet block.

Tent, caravan, motorhome: three levels of pitch

Each guest looks for the pitch that suits them. The game has three levels:

  • Basic: tents only. Caravans move on.
  • Serviced: ready for caravans. The upgrade costs $250.
  • Fully serviced: motorhomes can stay too. The upgrade costs $500.

Power, water and waste collection come from the Service Centre. It only serves the pitches within its reach. If an upgraded pitch lies outside it, you have paid for the hookup but the pitch earns less than it cost you.

The terrain has a say

Not every corner suits every vehicle. For each pitch the game checks how level the ground is and whether a vehicle can get in.

  • Too steep: no vehicle access. A caravan will never stay here.
  • Too uneven: a caravan cannot be levelled. This spot is for tents.

A pitch like that is not wasted. As a tent pitch it does its job.

The spot makes the pitch

Anyone who camps knows it: the same pitch is one thing at the edge of the trees and another next to the pool. The game rates every spot on six things: views, peace and quiet, nature, cleanliness, safety and convenience.

  • Toilet block: at the heart of each cluster of pitches, a short stroll from all of them. Nobody wants to cross the campsite in slippers.
  • Service Centre: close to the pitches that need it, but out of sight. Nobody wants to sleep next to the machinery.
  • Pool and Activity plaza: away from the quiet corners. The noise stays close.
  • Trees and lamp posts: trees add nature and lamp posts add safety, but only where they stand.

Seven kinds of guests

Families, a young crowd, retirees, backpackers, couples, regulars and premium guests all holiday at your campsite. They want different things, and you can tell by what they do.

Camping life you can watch

You can click any guest and follow their day. The game tells you what they are doing, for example:

  • “Pitches the tent and settles in”
  • “having breakfast together”
  • “out on their usual morning walk”
  • “sitting at the picnic table”
  • “Riding the train”
  • “watching the sunset together”

If a group cannot find a pitch that suits them, they tell you that too: “We found no pitch to fit the caravan in.”

From tent pitches to a camping resort

Over time you add glamping, bungalows and villas, plus a shop, an ice-cream parlour, a pool, a beach bar, a playground and show nights on the Activity plaza. All 15 buildings in the demo are on the Buildings page.

Try it

The demo is free on Steam until October 26, 2026. The beginner's guide explains how to get off to a good start.
